Public asset updates (updating a file in frontend/public)

This question considers using the frontend/public directory for assets, such as extension-specific images. When an asset needs to be updated, do we need to fully deploy the entire extension for a mere single-asset update, or can we update the one file itself somehow?

Using the Extension's frontend/public directory, you would need to push an update (merge request).

Using your own CDN, you can point to that asset like any other CDN. Using your own CDN would enable updating a singular asset on-the-fly, without an entire Extension update.
