For "File Storage", do we have to make a request to expose a folder(s) in Q2 SFTP server?

Hi everyone,

I read this documentation to learn about Q2's suggested way to handle files that are stored in Q2 SFTP server. When it comes to implementation, I wanted to ask for a confirmation if my team's understanding is correct and any insights would be greatly appreciated. As the above doc suggests, our Q2 SFTP server have Inbound (Eve_Extract and other subfolders) folder and Outbound folder.

file

If we wanted to create an Periodic Entrypoint that interacts with a file from these folders, am I correct that my team would have to make a request t Q2 to expose a 'SFTPRoot/' folder to a container '/mnt/example'? So to access a csv file in Inbound/Eve_Extract or Outbound folder from our code would be following:

# From Inbound
async with q2_open("/mnt/example/Inbound/Eve_Extract/MyReport.csv", 'r')

# From Outbound
async with q2_open("/mnt/example/Outbound/MyReport.csv", 'r')

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Edward,

Your thought process is correct. The exact paths to make this work might not be what you are expecting though. At least initially I recommend making the folder location a configuration so that you can control where it is landing more properly, it would also allow you to have say a different location for Staging testing and Production live reports. It would also allow you to better test your periodic job locally.
