External MFA Tutorial

Hello all,

I worked through the External MFA tutotial in the SDK docs. However, when I go to test my extension, it's defaulting to Q2's MFA with SMS and Email Secure Access Codes targets instead of routing to my custom MFA extension and workflow. Not sure what I'm missing or what steps to take next.

Steps I've taken to troubleshoot:

  1. Ensured that my MFA exentsion is installed and is running when logging into the dev sandbox.
  2. Enabled MFA for user retail0
  3. Checked the Database to ensure that MFA profile was setup correctly and assisnged to group 1. This is what I found in the DB and it looks correct:

Q2_MFAProvider Table:

MFAProviderIDShortNameRegistrationRequiredWedgeAddressIDTokenLifetimeInMinutes
4AvadianTOTP0625

Q2_MFAGroupProfile Table:

MFAGroupProfileIDDescriptionAuthProviderIDTranAuthProviderIDEDVPatrolProviderID
3Avadian MFA Group Profile444

Q2_GroupToMFAGroupProfile:

If you've successfully gone through enabling External MFA in the sandbox and setting up your user group I would suggest opening a ticket through the Developer Portal and we can take a look at your specific setup in your sandbox and help debug.

OMG, I figured it out. When going through the tutorial it had me only assign the MFA profile to Group 1. Well, I got curious to see if retail0 was in group 1. Nope, it was in group 4. So I assigned my MFA profile to all groups and it's now working.
