new to Q2 - mobile module

Hello, I'm just starting out, and some of the questions below might be too basic. However, I've been hired to do some work and I'm trying to understand what's possible and not possible with the Q2 platform and SDK. I'll need to create a new module for mobile app(s), and I'm somewhat confused (since I haven't set up the environment yet) about how everything fits together. I've gone through some documentation and have a good grasp of how to extend the web app, but the mobile app, where most of my work is supposed to be, is still a mystery.

Initially, I thought the app was written with React Native, but the mobile SDK documentation has me thinking otherwise. Are the apps in the App Store and Google Play native apps? At least the iOS app doesn't look like a native app.

Are mobile extension modules native? From the documentation, it appears so, but what does this mean for the web application for the same module?

Hello Kostia,

You have two options when developing an interface to be delivered in the mobile application. You can write in our Caliper SDK and Tecton which will deliver HTML5 content in our native mobile application. This is an easier and quicker way to deliver workflows and interactions in our Desktop and Mobile applications. The second option is to write Native mobile application using our Mobile SDK. While this is a little bigger effort, it allows for use of native components that aren't already exposed in our native application. Almost all net new workflows our customers and third parties develop are written in the Caliper SDK. We only have a few partners that have needed native development. Hope this helps.
