How to tell if an account is linked to the logged in user (not joint)?

I've examined the `account.link_type` attribute and see two values, either 'A' or 'C'. I currently don't know what either of these values mean or if I'm even looking in the right area. In my Dev Box I have created a new Online User and created a checking account for that user. I then used the Q2 DB command to link the account to my retail0 user. When viewing the link_type attribute for that account it has a value of 'A' which about half of the other accounts (that are not linked) also have. The current extension I'm developing requires me to gather a list of primary and joint accounts but excluding linked accounts. Thanks!
