CIF is short for Customer Information File. It's used as a unique identifier for a given user. More information can be found here https://docs.q2developer.com/support/q2_fundamentals.html. cif_internal is a cif that is used internally by the FI while cif_external refers to CIFs that are used externally for the FI.
