Without seeing the error, it is a bit hard to tell what the issue is. I am curious on how you are running q2 update_installed in Staging, that is a dev only thing. In Staging, the tools may call that under the hood. Though, typically you just add the key and value in the config in the interface. If you create a ticket on q2developer.com we can help track down what the issue is.
