Upgrade error when running q2 upgrade -p sdk

Hello,

I'm running into an error when I run q2 upgrade -p sdk. My current version after I clone_from_gitlab is 2.83.0 and I want to upgrade to 2.182.0.

ERROR: Command errored out with exit status 1:
     command: /home/jason.chu@coconutsoftware.com/sdk/.env/bin/python3.8 /home/jason.chu@coconutsoftware.com/sdk/.env/lib/python3.8/site-packages/pip/_vendor/pep517/_in_process.py prepare_metadata_for_build_wheel /tmp/tmpd3pem6jc
         cwd: /tmp/pip-install-usmg_81e/ruff
    Complete output (6 lines):

Cargo, the Rust package manager, is not installed or is not on PATH.
This package requires Rust and Cargo to compile extensions. Install it through
the system's package manager or via https://rustup.rs/

This is my first time setting things up with the Q2 environment. Here is what I did to get here.

Do I need to install some other q2 packages or update anything to get the cargo manager up? Can I homebrew it? What things am I allowed to install in this environment?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jason,

I went ahead and logged into your box and fixed your issue. If someone runs into this in the future, for some reason Rust isn't installed. On the Shared Dev this is fixed by running upgrade_python_version python3.11 then if SDK is missing you can just manually pip install q2-sdk just make sure if you manually update the SDK version like this you change your requirements.txt file to reflect that.

If you run into this issue on Local Dev use Caliper_admin to rebuild your python version or virtual environment. That should fix it for you. If that doesn't work feel free to make a support ticket.
