Subscription Event Needs More Order Information

It would be nice if the SubscriptionEvent model contained more information about the order. One item we'd like to be able to access is the order price/amount, which should go into the object below contained in the subscription event payload. If these items are already included e.g. in items, could you possibly share the full subscription event payload with missing items filled in?

'order': {
  'editionCode': 'RECURRING',
  'addonOfferingCode': '',
  'pricingDuration': 'MONTHLY',
  'freeTrial': {
    'active': False
  },
  'items': [],
  'customAttributes': []
},

There are also other questions like:

  • Is SubscriptionEvent triggered on a renewal?
  • If so, does it maintain the same subscription_id and how would we track payments on renewals? Is there a separate child object to track renewal activity on a unique subscription?

Thanks!

Hi David,

Amount is not available in the SUBSCRIPTION_ORDER event. We would have to work with our vendor to see if this could be added in the future. For now, you will have to use the "editionCode" in the "order" node of the payload to calculate the amount. If you only have one edition available for purchase, then the amount should always be the same. If you will have multiple editions of the product at different price levels, the editionCode will tell which edition was purchased so you can calculate the amount. Here is some documentation around the SUBSCRIPTION_ORDER event:

The SubscriptionEvent, aka SUBSCRIPTION_ORDER event, is only triggered on the initial purchase of the product. When a subscription is renewed, no event is sent unless the subscription has been placed into a SUSPENDED state. In this case, the SUBSCRIPTION_CHANGE is sent to notify us that the subscription has been renewed. Here is some documentation on this workflow:

https://help.appdirect.com/products/Default.htm#Dev-DistributionGuide/en-subs-lifecycle.html%3FTocPath%3DIntegration%2520events%7CSubscription%2520events%7C_____1

The subscription_id never changes for a subscription.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.
